“Sometimes it may be better not to wear a mask than to use it incorrectly. In other words, there may be less damage then. It is completely wrong to wear a mask under the chin or when you see the nose. So there is no protection left, “says R. Lingienė.

Penalties for non-compliance

Public Police Board Licensing Division Chief Audrius Čiupala says that in certain cases, according to the law, a shopping center security guard can arrest a person who refuses to wear a mask.

“There are rules for wearing masks. If people wore masks, there would be no conflict and no conflict situation would arise. Under current requirements, it is mandatory to wear masks indoors. Supermarkets and security personnel are often in charge of these locations, and remind people of their obligation to wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth when they enter that supermarket.

If a person refuses to do so, a conflict situation arises in such cases. It should also be said that a security guard can, by law, arrest a person in certain cases. In such cases, the police would come to the supermarket and a report would be written for that person about not wearing a mask, ”said A. Čiupala on the program.

When asked if the situation is different now than during the quarantine, the interlocutor assured that the most important thing is that all the requirements must be met for the safety of all of us, not for the good of the police.

“Hard to say. I couldn’t say that people have become less compliant to the demands now. If we look, a lot of people in supermarkets still obey those demands. First of all, it’s for the safety of the people themselves, not the good from the police, “said the interlocutor.

Consider checking people on ferries and planes

It is true that some people avoid liability and therefore pose a threat to public safety. In the future, according to the interlocutor, the measures may be more stringent and people will be checked on more ferries and planes.

“Several options are being considered. As some people are really irresponsible, it is considered to register everyone who has come to Lithuania. Perhaps the carriers could do this in more planes and ferries. Logistically, it would take longer, there will be dissatisfaction with the passengers , which means that other people will suffer for those who are irresponsible.

It will also be considered to verify that people who need self-isolation adhere to it. These decisions await in the near future, since some citizens represent a serious threat to society, “explains the specialist.
