They are both 16 years old and raising a two and a half year old daughter. The wedding took place at the head of government’s residence and only family members and close friends attended.
S. Marin, who is the youngest head of government in the world, posted a photo on Instagram that shows a bright bride in a white dress with a bouquet of flowers in her hand standing next to her partner.
“I am happy and grateful to be able to share my life with someone I love,” wrote the politician.
Marin has attracted media attention not only because he is the youngest Finnish leader in the country’s history, but also because he is the world’s youngest current head of government. In this regard, he has surpassed the Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharuk, who is now 35 years old.
Ms. Marin grew up under the care of her mother and best friend, and said that her “rainbow family” showed her the importance of “equality, fairness, and human rights.” In a 2015 interview, Marin said she felt “invisible” as a child because she was unable to speak openly about her family composition.
He also said that his childhood was largely determined by his political priorities, which included maintaining a generous social security system and a low degree of inequality. “I come from a poor family and could not have succeeded and moved on without a solid welfare state and the Finnish education system,” Sanomat told Helsingin.
According to the tabloid Iltalehti newspaper, when Marin was a child, anxiety was caused by a “kind of culture of silence” associated with her family. Times were different, Finnish society was not so open to otherness, it did not recognize non-traditional family formats.
During the interview, Marin revealed how matters related to her family, such as at school or with friends, were suppressed: “I remember that it was our family, but for reasons I did not understand at the time, nobody wanted to admit it or talk about it.” The politician says that her mother has always been very supportive and helped her believe that she can achieve whatever she wants. She became the first in her family to enroll and study at the university.
