Warsaw: 1,000 troops to be transferred from Germany will be deployed to Poland

United States Secretary of Defense Mark Esper said Wednesday that the Pentagon had 6.4 thousand. The troops currently being held in Germany will be sent home, and almost 5.6 thousand more. It will be transferred to other NATO countries, including Italy and Belgium.

“At least a thousand new soldiers will be deployed in our country,” M. Blaszczak told public radio channel 1.

“We will have a US headquarters in Poland. This headquarters will lead the forces deployed to the east wing of NATO,” added the minister.

“It will be the most important ground force center in our region,” Blaszczak said, noting that Warsaw and Washington were finalizing a military cooperation agreement.

“We will sign a final agreement with the Americans soon,” he said.

Washington decided to withdraw almost 12,000 from Germany. American troops, there will be about 24,000 of them in this country.

Esper emphasized the move as part of a broader plan to redistribute US forces around the world to ensure a better response to threats posed by Russia and China.
