I found the cheapest place in Šventoji: such prices have not yet been seen on the coast: dishes for only 1 euro

Now, those who constantly cry that the prices of space on the Lithuanian coast, which is cheaper in Turkey or Greece, will be flooded forever. Calm down, ladies and gentlemen, stop lying to yourself and to others, I have “physical” evidence that it is not cheaper anywhere in Western Europe. And when in doubt, send evidence, as I will tell you right away about the cantina in Santo, where people don’t even fit inside. It is so cheap there that everyone wants to eat. The huge tail, barely moving, is long and patient.

Vacationers who have been searching for cheap food for years are finally happy because they got what they wanted, and most importantly: no cheating, no hidden conditions. A family of three can eat for 5 euros at the Šventoji complex. Not to eat, but to eat, not to confuse. You can eat much more before the explosion for a little more, in my calculations it would take at least 8-10 euros. If you vacation without a family, you will get a much cheaper price. I didn’t believe it until I tried it on my fur.

The popular Galera restaurant-club has been operating on Šventosios Kopų street for many years, if I’m not mistaken it was the headquarters of the legendary concert group “16 Hertz” twenty years ago. This group from the 1980s performed there, if not daily, at least once a week. A poster of this pop trio with an invitation to come listen to them hung constantly next to the Galley. At the time, this restaurant-club was one of the main entertainment venues in the complex. I was surprised to see that there were no more “16 hertz” signs this year. But it was even more surprising that even though there was no poster left, there were even more people in the Galley than at the time. I will say without exaggeration: I have not seen so many people near any other place in Šventoji. Curious about what was happening there, maybe some special star was giving a concert, or maybe he was sharing something for free. I hurried to the crowd and started asking questions. Ms Jadvyga from Panevėžys explained that everything is gone: there are no more concerts here and the restaurant has not been open for a long time. Now Galera has become Galera Canteen, the most popular canteen in Šventoji. Word of mouth spreads by word of mouth, as it does here.

“Very cheap, high-quality and most importantly delicious,” Jadvyga said in the cantina. He was also supported by two Kaunas women queuing for the first time. “It really is worth standing, because it is very good food, we only spent 3 euros for two lunches, but we did not buy a drink because we brought our own water,” explained the ladies. The Latvian couple next to them also said that the “Galera canteen” surprised with the prices and quality. “We try to eat in other places too, but here is the best. We had two eggs with peas and mayonnaise, as well as a portion of cod to share. We also have to be full until night, “they said and were glad they had paid only 2 euros for those three meals. I verified, absolutely true, a portion of an egg costs 50 cents, and a great English dish: the battered fish (cod ) It costs only 1 euro. Here it is served without potatoes, but still, considering that you get 3 pieces of fish, mayonnaise and peas, I would say that it is very cheap.

Many visitors to the cafe recommend eating only from the snack menu, which has the lowest prices here. Homemade salads, exotic crab salads, cucumber and tomato salads – everything costs just € 1 each. A more luxurious and complete salad with chicken, or a salad with Greek feta cheese costs 1.20 euros. On the menu hanging on the wall is a large selection of herring: kiwi herring, mustard herring, sweet and sour herring, rustic herring, etc. – the price of all of them is the same – 1.50 Eur.

A family of three, Blaževičiai from Vilnius, eats in the canteen because they are trying to save food. They used to make their own products, but then figured they didn’t spend much on eating at the canteen. Blaževičius likes pancake and zeppelin prices better here. Pancakes with curd and meat cost € 2 per unit, or € 3.50 per serving, grated potato zeppelin also costs € 2 and a serving price of € 4. They were happy to overeat for 8 euros and save a lot of time preferring to spend on the beach. “Finally, entrepreneurs came to mind, because we rest a lot in Nida – constant prices are scared, it is impossible to eat in cafes without 50 euros,” they complain.

Several people in line at the canteen did not know exactly what to expect and what they would get when they entered. “We saw that there was a big queue here, so we were interested,” said Margarita de Alytus, who was in line with two friends. Mantas from Kaunas could not answer why he was waiting, when asked if he had already tried to eat, he laughed. “I looked at the prices, he even became fun, I’ll buy all his food”, the guy did not hesitate. Initially, I planned to order a homemade pork chop for 3.50 euros and a slice of “Samogitian pancakes” for 3.80 euros.

Incidentally, the most expensive dish in this canteen: a “Kiev” chicken fillet, which costs 4.50 euros, is served with a side dish. Although it is definitely much more expensive compared to other menu offerings, it does not scare tourists, they ask for it.

Of course, other dining rooms will get mad that I haven’t shown them and pay attention to them, so I must mention that in this small complex the type of dining room is prospering, if you don’t want cafes and restaurants, go to Šventoji and you will definitely be satisfied. The choice is huge: “Cantina Šventoji Spectrum”, “Beach canteen”, “Cantina Žara”, several canteens without a clear name, only with the inscription “canteen”.

The vacationers I interviewed said they also eat elsewhere, but they don’t think it’s delicious everywhere. “In some places, the smells are not good, there is little ventilation, there are no places to sit outside,” explained the women interviewed.

Readers should probably be reminded not to seek dining room luxury. They have no waiters or waiters, nor will you find white tablecloths. You will need to serve yourself and remove the dishes after eating. Many don’t like it, but there are rules for cheap food.
