A.Verygos no longer replaces J.Narkevičius, Minister, Head of Emergency Operations

J.Narkevičius, by decree signed by Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis, would replace A.Verygas from July 20 to 31, but Deputy Prime Minister V.Šapoka changed his decision and shortened the replacement period to July 24.

In place of J.Narkevičius, the Minister of Health will be replaced by Minister of Justice Elvinas Jankevičius and will do so until July 31.

“It is just an even distribution of the burden among the ministers,” E. Jankevičius explained the reason for the changes during a press conference with the government on Monday.

He assured that J. Narkevičius had faced the duties that had been assigned to him temporarily, but reiterated that the workload was now redistributed more uniformly: “All the ministers are facing everything, it is just a distribution of the load of work”.

To find out why the changes have occurred, 15 minutes appealed to the Ministries of Finance and Communications. He has not yet provided any response, but the letter was written on the own initiative of a representative of the Ministry of Health (SAM), as well as the Government’s Public Relations Department.

“I was unable to comment on the decisions of the Deputy Minister of Finance. Therefore, for more detailed comments, I would suggest contacting the Ministry of Finance,” suggested Vytautas Beniušis, Head of the SAM Press Service.

The government has indicated that the ministers have been assigned to replace A.Verygas, who is on vacation, in a week.

“Due to the equitable distribution of the workload among the ministers, it was decided that the Minister of Health (Chief of State Emergency Operations) would be replaced by other ministers for one week each. This week, the Minister of Justice , next week the Minister of Education, Science and Sports, and then the Minister of Social Security and Labor, “said the letter. 15 minutes.

While acting as head of statewide emergency operations, A.Veryga, J.Narkevičius managed to update the list of countries from which entry is prohibited or from which isolation is necessary, he determined who has to pay for COVID surveys- 19 to foreigners who came to Lithuania for commercial purposes, adopted a resolution on high and low risk municipalities and others.

Last week, Minister J.Narkevičius managed to participate in a press conference: He reported that consideration was being given to returning to the issue of mandatory use of masks.
