The man, who did not want to show up and testified to represent the views of dissatisfied residents, said that for several years he has had to endure the noise of the “tuk tuk,” which runs on gasoline or diesel, at night during the season. . Not only locals but also tourists cannot fall asleep.

“Our main problem is the nightlife in certain places in Nida. I am talking about Kuverto and Pamario streets. The point is that young people who meet at the most popular entertainment venues, such as the “Dome”, the “Bunny Garden”, return from those places at night in those “tuk tuk”. These vehicles are old, roaring, Malaysian and like bullets that run until seven in the morning. Take away, bring those people.

Initially, when we filed complaints with the municipality, the mayor promised to run an electric tuk tuk. Everything suited everyone, both businessmen and locals. Understand, during the season, all our nights are insomniac. Even vacationers who rent apartments by road stay awake at night and leave the next day without finding peace. So this one of our little ones is ruined entrepreneur. We spoke to the responsible representatives of the municipality, we asked them to allow the electric tuk tuk to work at night and those who roared during the day. However, the electric tuk tuk have completely disappeared, leaving only those noisy with gasoline or diesel engines, “he explained.

A Nida resident asked to imagine what the sounds were like at night when you needed to sleep on the main road and that the situation was really very bad.

“We have to go to work, the tourists are also complaining. We have already approached the mayor, we received those response letters, there paste attachedAnd nothing changes. He said he would talk to businessmen, he would try to find ways to solve the problem, but so far we have not seen any results. Last year, everything was silent, and this year the same story again, “he was outraged.

According to him, Nida is an oasis of peace, which should be forgotten, because everything here is similar to Basanavičiaus street and the biggest problem is the noise at night.

“It just caught our eye then. We’re already shaking hands with young people who come back in the morning and yell under the windows, come and go, but those ‘tuk tuk’ are really driving me crazy. We have to suffer that growl all the time. At noon, these drivers are asleep, and in the afternoon they go back out on the street and everything gets up again, although it is clearly written that until 10 pm there can be only a small noise and after 10 pm there must be silence. , there are laws, but nothing is done ”, assured the man.

Noisy vehicles must remain

Chief of Administration of the Municipality of Neringa Sandra Vaišvilaitė, a specialist in public relations, confirmed that a few years ago, a collective complaint was received from residents about the noise made by the so-called “tuk tuk” at night.

“At that time, the municipal administration of Neringa began several meetings with the transport service providers. To reach a compromise, it was agreed that only 4” tuk tuks “with internal combustion engines would operate at night (from 11 pm to 6 am) calculated 16.) There have been no more formal complaints about the noise these vehicles make, ”he explained.

He also added that today there was only the most famous “tuk tuk” left in Neringa, and only 2 offer overnight transportation services.

“The last weekend was an exception: a major nightly event took place on the Nida coast on the scale of the resort, and overnight transportation was intensively performed by all service providers, making further unavoidable In addition, due to the ongoing reconstruction work on Taikos Street, the so-called third entrance to Nida has been closed, as a result, Kuverto and Pamario streets have significantly higher traffic flows. “

According to the specialist, there will be even less or more noisy “tuk tuk” in the future: this year, the municipality of Neringa started another meeting with transport service providers on noise management and was informed that the amount of “tuk tuk “” noisy “will decrease in the coming years.

“This year, Neringa began operating operators that provide services only in electric vehicles, we hope this will be a role model for others.”
