On July 23, exactly a year before the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics, which was postponed to 2021, the Lithuanian National Olympic Committee (LTOK) together with members of the LTeam team officially presented the clothing of the Olympic team Lithuanian created by the Polish company 4F in the Japanese garden in Vilnius.
Olympic collectors Saulius Ritteris and Milda Valčiukaitė were the first to test this collection in late February, after having participated in a special photo shoot in Warsaw. Along with a couple of rowers, the Tokyo Olympic collection was presented to the public by three-year-old Diana Zagainova, who will be making her Games debut, and pentathlete Justin Kinder, who will start at the world’s third largest sporting event.
The four LTeam athletes who already have tickets to Japan wore parade clothes at the event, the design of which was created by designer Oksana Ragauskienė, who won the competition in 2018.
In the social space, A. Pogrebnojus spared no criticism of the new Olympic clothing, lamented the athletes and claimed that their clothing is 1000 times more beautiful.
“I only have one question: red lamps on the pants, what is a” remake “of the troops of the Russian army general? The harmony of colors is just fantastic … it seems that the colorblind man also designed a yellow dress, even the shortness of breath, how terrible, the children’s choir “Žiogelis” can immediately order a green men’s suit with shorts, and the ensemble with a short skirt: it is not for the athlete to actually wear it. It would be more suitable for a North Korean official who checks passports on the wall … I am very sorry for our great athletes and modest in summary: my clothes are 1000 times more beautiful, “the designer writes in his account.
In early June, A. Pogrebnojus, who trained biathletes and skiers at the Pyongyang Olympics, introduced an alternative outfit for the Olympic team to the Tokyo Games, suitable for almost all sports.
“The collection is basically designed as an alternative to the Tokyo Olympics. It is not my problem that they moved (smiled – aut. Past). I am not going to compete with the Lithuanian National Olympic Committee (LTOK), they can only see if it suits them. ” A. Pogrebnojus presented the proposal to the most important sports organization in the country.
The collection is dominated by white, carved by Vytis (its author is the artist Nerijus Baublys), and the inscription “Lietuva” is used in the same font as on the legendary Lituanica aircraft of S. Darius and S. Girėnas.
“This color was chosen because they are very hot summers in both Lithuania and Tokyo. Another reason is the color of the sakura flowers. The clothing is designed for cyclists, swimmers, rugby and many other sports. I couldn’t expand to absolutely everyone, but I did what could be done, “said A. Pogrebnojus.
On Thursday, up to two versions of clothing were created for LTeam’s official clothing presentation ceremony: Men will be able to choose a suit with pants or shorts decorated with a side band, and a classic polo shirt and slim skirt or modern dress. with a jacket.
“The final idea of clothing design arose from several variants in which I wanted to use national motifs, as well as the tricolor colors so well known to all of us. During implementation, the patterns were replaced by tricolor stripes, but the overall image was still recognizable from afar and lush.
As this is the usual clothing for the delegation to travel during the opening and closing of the Olympic Games, I also wanted the audience to see the associative colors from afar and on television from a distance and immediately connect us to Lithuania, to be bright, clear and definitely functional. “, – Oksana Ragauskienė, who created the ready-made clothing design, shared her idea.
“With this outfit, we want to say that we are brilliant, exceptional, positive, we do not lack positive and vibrant energy. I chose green as the main color because it is the color of hope, red is the color of courage, yellow is the color of prosperity, the sun and gold, “added the designer with a smile.
Due to the global health crisis, the Tokyo Olympics were postponed to 2021. Their opening ceremony will take place exactly one year later, on July 23 at the Tokyo Olympic Stadium.
Currently, 23 members of the LTeam team have earned the right to compete in the Tokyo Olympics.
