After working hard all his life on farms, for several years in Kazakhstan and in construction, today he devotes all his time to his hobbies. As they say, do it on the go, and most importantly, get active, don’t sit on the couch for days.

Petronėlė meets us together with March Nijole; she lives right next door, so she often visits her mother-in-law. Petronėlė has raised four children, currently seeing as many as 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. As Petronėlė says, all the festivities take place in his house, and when everyone comes from different parts of the world: Sweden, Scotland, Moscow, Spain and others, the house is full of gossip and joy.

Sometimes create up to 2 hours a night.

Petronėlė marti Nijolė believes that the eldest who acquired the creative streak could have inherited it from her father, who had golden hands for woodworking. Petronėlė herself says that she had to take care of children, work, never have time to dedicate herself to art, but today all her time is dedicated to creation, she really likes it.

Only now has Petronėlė received gift books on various crafts and, until then, all animals were born “by heart”.

“I said to myself: I need to do something at home, that’s how I started, one, another angel, then an animal, other jobs, look, the whole meadow is already full. Others have already collapsed during that time, or, as I say, are discarded, laughs Petronėlė.

I am very happy, I have nothing to complain about because I have something to do every day.

– The further, the better I do. Ok, one of the newer works is a giraffe. I first make a shape out of the boards, cut them myself, and then wrap them in string. I put what I have inside, both pillows and blankets that I don’t use, and then I paint.

I work mainly outdoors and, when it is cold, in winter, indoors. After all, the days are short, the afternoons are long, what to do? There is a lot of space for me, ”says Petronėlė, adding that sometimes she forgets and works until two at night, she can’t sleep until she has finished working.

He used to have real animals (peacocks, donkeys and ponies) and now he decorates his house with creatures. It is true that he wanted to hold a flame at the same time, but he changed his mind.

“I would no longer like a man, because I know how to do everything myself”

Petronėlė lives alone, has a greenhouse, a large flower garden and takes care of everything herself, but when she receives help, she never gives up, although she thinks she has the strength and can even cut the grass herself.

“You know, I know all the work, only with a plow I couldn’t be around and, oh, I could also cut boards and firewood with men. And no man would please me more, because I know how to do everything myself. When we were left with six motherless children, we soon had to become independent. The only job that is not in my heart is cleaning the section, ”laughs Petronėlė.

The sculpture park is also loved by travelers passing through the country and sharing photos on social media. Petronėlė says that Zita Kelmickaitė also came, and told her about her work.

Petronėlė receives all kinds of opinions about her products, others do not believe that she creates them herself and they believe that grandchildren and great-grandchildren do everything for her. By the way, he also adapts his creations to the holidays: it is Easter, they are Christmas articles in the carriage right at the entrance of his house.
