On Tuesday, 73 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Lithuania, the total number of cases in the country reaches 3,932. Two people infected with coronavirus died at the Kaunas Hospital of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences.
According to the National Center for Public Health (NVSC), the deaths belonged to the age group 80 to 89 years and had comorbidities.
COVID-19 was confirmed in one person on August 25 and in another on September 22.
The disease claimed a total of 89 lives in Lithuania and 18 people died from other causes.
Currently, 1,581 people are still infected with coronavirus, 2,246 have recovered and 15,977 people are isolated.
As of June 1, 254 import cases have been identified in Lithuania.
5,649 samples were analyzed in the laboratories during the previous day, so far a total of 737,561 samples have been analyzed.
The number of cases in hospitals continues to increase
Of the cases identified yesterday, 50 are confirmed in outbreaks.
The largest number of new cases was registered at the Šiauliai Republican Hospital, reports the National Center for Public Health (NVSC). Twelve new cases of infection have been identified here and a total of 14 cases of the disease have been confirmed at this treatment center.
Seven new cases have been registered in the outbreak of Radviliškis Hospital, a total of 74 diseases are associated with this outbreak.
Three new cases were also detected at Raseiniai Hospital, where a total of 14 cases were registered. In Raseiniai district, two cases from the Blinstrubiškės welfare home and the Viduklė outpatient clinic were also confirmed.
Eight new cases of infection have been identified in the municipality of Raseiniai; 11 cases have been recorded here in a few days.
Five new cases of COVID-19 infection are associated with an outbreak between the Lithuanian ensemble and the choristers of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theater. Currently, the infection is confirmed in six of its representatives. Almost the whole of the Lithuanian team is in self-isolation, confirmed its leader Marija Tarasova.
According to the NVSC, the circumstances of the infection of the eight people diagnosed yesterday with the infection are unknown. Three import cases were established: from Belarus, Russia and Germany.
A mobile checkpoint has been opened in Raseiniai
In response to the spread of the coronavirus in the district, a mobile checkpoint was opened in Raseiniai, the municipality informed the BNS on Wednesday.
“It is possible to examine not only those who feel the symptoms, but also those who do not. In other words, there is an opportunity for everyone to get to know each other,” said Irma Juknevičienė, deputy director of the Raseiniai district municipal administration, at BNS .
According to her, about 200 samples can be taken at the point per day.
“The point really works well, the flows are controlled,” added I. Juknevičienė.
As the mayor of the district Andrius Bautronis informed the BNS later, distance or mixed education has been temporarily applied in educational institutions since Tuesday.
“Older students in grades 5-12 are covered by distance learning without exception, while younger students, from preschool through elementary school, are covered by blended learning. Actually, we don’t close the kindergartens, parents bring them in, they leave the children, we understand them too, “he said.
“Precisely today we spoke with the director of one of the institutions, so with the primers they have made the decision that the teacher works with those who study remotely, and his assistant – with the students who come to class. There are different options, each situation is different ”, added A. Bautronis.
According to the mayor, since Monday in the restricted district all events, patient attendance.
“Patients cannot visit Raseiniai Hospital, this decision was made by the hospital director. (…) Visits to care institutions are also prohibited, by decision of the administration director,” he said.
According to the National Center for Public Health, about 90 cases of coronavirus have been recorded in the district since early September.
During the last day, eight cases of the COVID-19 disease were confirmed in the municipality of Raseiniai, three – in the Raseiniai hospital, two cases were confirmed each for the employees of the Blinstrubiškės welfare home and the outpatient clinic of Viduklė.
