Officials from the Criminal Police Organized Crime Investigation Board (KPONTV) of the Klaipėda County Police Chief’s Station detained individuals suspected of extortion.
The pre-trial investigation began upon receipt of a statement from the victim regarding the extortion of her property. In November, the authorities arrested five people suspected of committing this crime in Klaipeda, Dubysos St., one of whom is a 20-year-old Latvian citizen.
It is alleged that the five accomplices, who between 18 and 39 years violated the victim’s property for allegedly suffering losses while repairing cars a few years ago, had no legal basis and threatened retaliation.
The forces of order already know two suspects. 39 m. A Klaipėda district resident, who worked as a manager in one of the Klaipėda district companies, was previously convicted of illegal possession of pornographic content. In 2020, he was also suspected of threatening to kill or seriously harm human health or human terror.
Kitam – 18 m. In 2019, a Mažeikiai resident who was not working anywhere in the 19th century was suspected of illegally possessing narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances without the purpose of distributing them.
The five suspects were arrested and detained, and one of them, an 18-year-old youth, was placed in preventive detention with a written commitment not to leave, seize documents, and periodically register with the police. The remaining four have been given a written commitment not to leave and an obligation to periodically register with the police.
The pre-trial investigation is organized and led by the Organized Crime and Corruption Investigation Division (ONKTS) of the Klaipėda Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
Extortion or up to 6 years in prison for extortion are expected.
