44 new cases of coronavirus in Lithuania: virus is spreading in Šiauliai county, 12 people are not known to be infected

A total of 3,243 COVID-19 cases were confirmed in the country. 2,049 people recovered from the disease and 1,095 fell ill. Currently, 7,390 people need isolation. 86 people also died of coronavirus in Lithuania. Thirteen people died from other causes despite being infected with COVID-19.

According to the National Public Health Laboratory, 5,021 samples were analyzed for suspected coronavirus during the previous day. To date, a total of 687,118 samples have been tested for suspected coronavirus, including 187,312 from mobile sites.

Almost a third of new cases in Šiauliai county

Seven new cases are linked to the sewing company Interscalit, for a total of 28 COVID-19 cases already linked to this outbreak. Six new cases have been registered in Comco. NVSC reports that the company’s activities have been suspended. Based on currently available data, no links have been established between the confirmed cases at the two sewing companies.

Three new cases in Tauragė county are associated with the outbreak in the Kęstutis battalion. According to the latest data from NVSC, a total of 41 COVID-19 cases are associated with this approach.

In Vilnius county, Švenčionys district, another case involving the Intersurgical company has been confirmed. An estimated 48 cases are now associated with this outbreak.

In addition, 13 other people became infected after contact with previously confirmed cases. Two of them were registered in two schools in Vilnius: Martynas Mažvydas and Gabija progymnasium. In one case, 37 people with high-risk exposure were identified, in another, 38 people with high-risk exposure.

Public health specialists reported these illnesses Thursday.

According to the NVSC, it is not yet known how 12 people were infected.

Two import cases were also confirmed last day.

One import case was confirmed in Klaipėda county for a person who came to Lithuania from Ukraine, the second was registered in Telšiai county. COVID-19 has been approved for a person who has returned to Lithuania from France.

On Thursday 36 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in the country. Of these, 17 are related to chimneys, more than a third to the sewing company Interscalit operating in Šiauliai.

On Thursday, it was also reported that COVID-19 cases had been identified in two more Vilnius schools: M. Mažvydas Progymnasium’s novice and a Gabija Progymnasium student had fallen ill. Classes for both students have been studying remotely since Thursday. Cases of COVID-19 infection have already been detected in 21 educational institutions in Lithuania.
