126th death from coronavirus
NVSC reports that last day the 126th case of death from COVID-19 was registered in Lithuania.
The deceased is a resident of Šiauliai County. The person belonged to the age group 80-89 and had comorbidities. The coronavirus was confirmed to the person on October 22. During the epidemiological diagnosis, the specialists could not determine the circumstances of the human infection.
In addition, last day 6 deaths were confirmed (5 in Šiauliai county and one in Telšiai county), when those infected with coronavirus died from other causes.
In one fifth of cases, the circumstances of the infection are unknown.
Epidemiological studies of 307 cases are currently being carried out. Following contact with people confirmed by coronavirus, epidemiologists estimate that 208 people were infected last day, based on currently available data. In Šiauliai County, 10 cases are associated with an outbreak at Kelmė Hospital; the infection was confirmed in seven employees of the Resuscitation and Intensive Care Unit, one employee of the Department of Nursing and Support and two employees of the hospital administration. Also in Šiauliai county, 4 cases of COVID-19 were registered on the last day, related to the outbreak in the company “Frilux”.
5 cases in Klaipėda County are associated with the outbreak at the Palanga Rehabilitation Hospital, 3 – with the Klaip City Polyclinic, da, one – with the Skuodas branch of the Klaipėda Republican Hospital.
