216 British and two South African coronavirus cases detected in Lithuania

This week, 37 samples were analyzed in the laboratory of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU), of which 29 belong to the B.1.1.7 strain. This variety represents 78 percent. (28/36) Vilnius and 100 percent. (1/1) Samples tested at Marijampolė County LSMU this week.

The reference laboratory of the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control has analyzed 459 samples in recent weeks, including 187 cases with the B.1.1.7 line. Information on county breakdown is under review. In addition, 2 new cases of the B.1.351 virus line (South Africa) were detected in this laboratory. Both cases belong to Vilnius County.

SETTING: March 30. NVSPL announced that 108 cases were detected with the B.1.1.7 line in the laboratory of the Kaunas Clinics (LSMUL KK) of the Health Sciences Hospital of the University of Lithuania. Subsequently, the laboratory clarified that an error had occurred and clarified that 107 cases had been identified. See the table below for revised details.

To date, a total of 2,611 samples have been sequenced and 734 cases of virus lines B.1.1.7 and 7 B.1.351 have been detected in Lithuania, according to the sequencing project coordinated by NVSPL.
