Particularly bad and disappointing news circulates from the gray Alytus City Hall: 188 thousand funds from the municipal budget were transferred to the scam account.
This fact was confirmed by AlytusPlius.lt, the mayor of Alytus Nerijus Cesiulis, after working hours on Wednesday. “It just came to our attention then. I was informed by Director of Administration Jurgis Krasnickas. I asked for an official check to see if it was a misunderstanding or a fraud. I trust the police will find out if it is a mistake or willful misconduct. I really want to believe this is a mistake, but… ”said N. Cesiulis.
According to him, until recently, administrative staff were trained on how to identify and protect against fraud. “I find it strange that there are trainings on the tools that scammers use. About a month ago there was a cyberattack against the municipality. I do not want to comment much, it is the business and responsibility of the director of administration. I hope we have also submitted a request to the bank; maybe we can get the money back. I won’t comment on anything else, the police are working, “said the mayor at night.
According to sources, an employee of the Accounting Department of the municipal administration carried out the order assuming that he was paying for one of the stages of the work for ACB.
