104 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Lithuania

The National Center for Public Health (NVSC) reports that 104 cases of coronavirus infection (COVID-19) were confirmed in Lithuania last day. 40 of them were registered in Šiauliai, 29 in Vilnius, 23 in Kaunas, 6 in Klaipėda counties. Another 3 cases were recorded in Utena, 2 in Marijampolė and 1 in the Panevėžys regions.

After contact with people confirmed by coronavirus, epidemiologists estimated that 76 people were infected. In addition, on the last day there were 2 import cases from Ukraine and Belarus. At that time, 26 people did not identify the circumstances of the infection.

59 cases are associated with outbreaks

Four cases confirmed yesterday are related to Radviliškis Hospital. All infected people are secondary cases, that is, they do not work in the hospital and do not receive treatment there. There are currently a total of 167 cases associated with the outbreak: 65 patients, 67 employees and 35 secondary cases.

There are also more cases related to the “Danijus” sewing house in Radviliškis. During the previous day, 12 related cases were registered, of which 11 were employed and 1 was a secondary case. An estimated 20 COVID-19 cases are now associated with the outbreak: 16 workers and 4 secondary cases.

In addition, 10 cases, of which 8 were recorded for residents of Šiauliai county and 1 for residents of Klaipėda and Utena counties, are related to the outbreak in one of the Šiauliai University (ŠU) courses. A total of 23 related cases were registered. As previously reported by the NVSC, this outbreak is associated with COVID-19 cases in Raseiniai.

In addition, 1 case registered last day is related to an outbreak at the Kaunas Erudite School. The infection was confirmed to the student. A total of 16 infections are currently estimated to be associated with the outbreak.

Additionally, 1 more case in Kaunas is associated with an outbreak in the Kaunas Police Chief’s Commissariat. A total of 18 cases related to COVID-19 were registered.

In Kaunas County, Raseiniai, three new chimneys were registered yesterday. The first is related to the Ariogala Gymnasium, where yesterday 1 case of COVID-19 per employee was confirmed and a total of 2 related contagion cases were registered. The second is at the Nemunas Pharmacy in Raseiniai, where 1 case of infection was also confirmed yesterday (2 registered in total), and at the Raseiniai Social Services Center, where 2 cases related to COVID-19 have already been registered.

The circumstances of the infection in 26 people are unclear.

At this time, epidemiologists have not yet been able to determine how 26 people were infected. Epidemiological studies have shown that people did not travel abroad and did not interact with confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Specialists examine the routes of these infections, so statistics may still change if links are found between individual cases.

NVSC reports that a total of 5185 cases of COVID-19 disease have been confirmed in Lithuania, 2577 people are still ill, 2495 – have recovered.
