10 new cases of coronavirus have been identified in Lithuania: none of them have been introduced

“During yesterday, 10 new cases of Covid disease were registered in four counties: Vilnius, Kaunas, Panevėžys and Šiauliai. It is also clear that there are no imported cases, ”he reported.

According to R. Lingienė, details about these cases will be published later, when epidemiologists discover all the circumstances of the infections.

“Some of the cases are related to existing chimneys. It is perfectly normal for people to get infected where there is a chimney, ”said the interlocutor.

According to the head of the NVSC, although 17 new diseases were detected the day before, and now there are fewer, it is too early to draw conclusions from such an increase. The specialist noted that even in a few cases, the number can suddenly jump to several dozen.

“The sad news is that one person died yesterday. It is really sad that we have 81 deaths, two and a half weeks, almost three of us have lived without deaths, ”said R. Lingienė.

According to the interlocutor, according to age, the person did not belong to the risk group, but R. Lingienė still had no information about other diseases that the deceased may have had.

“The person died in the Santara clinics and is a resident of Kretinga,” said R. Lingienė.

Delfi recalls that a Franciscan monk from Kretinga treated with coronavirus died on Tuesday who died in the Santara clinics.

The 54-year-old monk’s death was confirmed on Wednesday by BNS Mayor Antanas Kalnius. “We received a message yesterday that Brother Francis had died,” the mayor said. However, A. Kalnius stated that he had no data on the exact cause of death.

According to BNS, the parish priest of the Kretinga parish, the Franciscan Astijus Kungys, the monk died of the COVID-19 disease. “He was hooked up to artificial flushing in ECMO for the last few days, he didn’t do well all week, he just went bad, and he died Tuesday night before five,” he said.

According to the pastor, the deceased will be cremated and buried in Kretinga. “On Sunday at six in the morning the urn will be taken to Kretinga, on Monday it will be fed, (…) and on Tuesday there will probably be mass and an escort,” said A. Kungys.

The National Center for Public Health reported the coronavirus infection to his brother Francis, who lives at the Monastery of the Revelation of the Lord in Kretinga, on July 7.

A monk was diagnosed with the coronavirus at Klaipeda University Hospital after he returned from the Czech Republic by car on July 3 and soon felt symptoms.
