Listen to what we have said so far about the Surface Duo hardware

This week on The edge‘s Friday episode of De Vergecast, Wired senior writer and Edge alum Lauren Goode stops by to discuss her new podcast Get Wired and continues to talk tech and gadgets with them Edge colleagues Nilay Patel and Dieter Bohn.

In this episode, we’re one step closer to reviewing Microsoft’s long-awaited Surface Duo.

After 29 minutes in the show, Dieter shows that he has his hands on Microsoft’s dual screen smartphone, but can only talk about the features of the device with the screen out – so only hardware – until the official release of it product.

Dieter discusses how the product feels in the hand, the durability and quality of the glass body, the advantages and disadvantages of the folding design, and other first impressions of the form factor.

Although I focused this article on that specific segment, there was a lot more discussion in this episode – such as Amazon’s weird new fitness tracker, a major update on TikTok’s US plans, and a grabbag with more experimental smartphone design – so listen through the whole performance to hear it all.

If you’re interested in our previous discussions about the Surface Duo, listen to our interview with Microsoft’s Chief Product Officer Panos Panay on the day he announced the product last year.
