Bastille has shared a new song called ‘What You Gonna Do ???’ with Graham Coxon – listen below.
The new song hits the heels of the band’s third studio album, ‘Doom Days,’ and, according to leader Dan Smith, it was something they couldn’t wait to get out.
“We finished the song and we found it urgent,” he explained. “We didn’t want to sit on it.”
Produced by Smith and Mark Crew, ‘What are you going to do?’ it features Graham Coxon of Blur on guitar and vocals, and it’s part of what Smith says in a new beginning for the band.
“This next phase feels like a new beginning,” he said. “It is about completely breaking our process, being spontaneous and starting again.
“We are really excited about the new songs. I think we are making the best music we have ever done. We want to get it out now and not wait for the entire album to be finished before someone starts listening to it. It’s about where we are now and listening to each other in real time. ”
Accompanied by a video created by London-based animator Rezza, he sees a mix of mixed media used to illustrate the song’s messages. You can see it below.
The song’s ironic chorus explores a frustration with the economy of attention in which our ears and eyes fight fiercely, but very few use it for something worthwhile.
“Whether we’re online or offline, a lot of people hit us perpetually vying for our attention,” Smith said, “but we are kept rolling our eyes at how rarely it is for something so decent or fun.”

Meanwhile, Bastille, Lewis Capaldi, and Snow Patrol have been confirmed to headline the Latitude Festival in 2021.
It comes after this year’s event was phased out this summer due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Headlining next year’s party for the first time, Bastille leader Dan Smith said, “We’ve wanted to play and go to Latitude for so long, so we’re really excited to have the opportunity to be there next year after . all year away from concerts. “
He added: “It is our only British summer festival concert and we are delighted that it is in Latitude in such a brilliant company.”
