On Friday (July 31), Lil Wayne teamed up with his Young Money comrades, Gudda Gudda and Jay Jones, for the new video for the “Thug Life” collective.
Filmed at Wayne Skate Park, Weezy is in pure form, delivering high-octane raps at a frenetic pace. “I want the photos of my baby on a $ 100 bill / My lazy idiots are teaching my crazy mad how to relax,” he jokes. With his Styrofoam cup in hand, he then accelerates his flow in the hypnotic rhythm, before Jay Jones enters with a forceful verse. Soon after, the rhythm changes and Gudda Gudda and Wayne begin to exchange bars on the sinister soundscape.
Two weeks ago, Wayne wrapped up his first season of Young Money Radio with an interview with Birdman. The two discussed possibly making a sequel to their 2006 collaborative album. Like father Like Son. “I want it to be my goodbye,” Birdman said to Wayne during their conversation. His first effort was met with commercial success, and he had hits like “Stuntin ‘Like My Daddy” and “Leather So Soft.”
After the conclusion of Wayne’s Young Money Radio show, which previously hosted interviews with Drake, 50 Cent, Migos, Nicki Minaj, and more, Weezy greeted his fans for tuning in.
“Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for making this first debut season of any podcast or radio show EVER,” Wayne wrote gratefully on Instagram.
