Apple is preparing to launch its first iPhone 5G with the iPad but the iPad and possibly the MBKbook are likely to follow.
Will come with a 5G connection, in particular, the rumored iPhone 12 Pro Max, which can get the fastest type of 5G called MMwave, aka Millimeter-Wave 5G (via FastCompany).
The less expensive future iPhone may get the Sub-6GHz 5G, which is slower but has better coverage.
But the 5G will move towards the iPad and maybe the MB book.
Future iPad and GP-Pro processor
Like the iPhone, the future iPad will support both the Sub-6GHz 5G and the MMWave 5G.
Today, Apple offers the iPad with the option for the Pal 4G. For example, the new iPad Pro is configured with 4G / LTE for an additional $ 150. Expect similar options for future 5G iPads.
And Apple Plus is switching to its own processor on the future MQbook – processors similar to those found in the iPhone and iPad – it is likely that the 5G will eventually be offered on its laptops as well.
It will be the first for Apple Pal. To date, the company has never offered a cellular connection to its MacBook, even though it has been available on laptops from companies like Hewlett-Packard and Dell for years.
- Fast 5G: MMwave, aka millimeter-wave
- Slow 5G: Sub-6GHz – but better coverage than MMwave
Apple Pull Liquor’s long Reddit post in June (via iMore) repeats rumors about a potential future 12-inch MBBook packing 5G (and a powerful Apple Pull processor for MBKbooks with more cores than the series processors found in the iPhone and iPad. Today).
A Digitimes report from last year (by MR Krumers) also mentions the 5G MBKbook which has got more 5G performance than the competition from the ceramic antenna board.
Whatever happens, Apple will eventually have to offer a 5G option on its MacBooks to stay competitive. HP, which has long been a leader in offering laptops with cellular connections, will offer 5G on future laptops, a source close to HP told me recently.
