According to the school’s general adviser, David Corey, Liberty University staff are being instructed to avoid communicating with the school’s expelled president, Jerry Falwell Jr.
Falwell had given some employees “discomfort” after he resigned from the university last week, Kerry told employees in an email on Thursday, The News & Advance reports on Friday.
He said the ongoing discussions between Fallwell and university staff could give the impression that he was still running the school.
“This impression has not been well received by our supporters who do not want to run Liberty University behind the scenes of Mr. Falwell,” Kerry wrote in an email.
Well Lovele did not withdraw a request for comment from News Advance.
Falwell, whose father founded the school, resigned last week following a recent public scandal alleging that his wife had been in a relationship with Becky Falwell’s former business partner for years.
Kerry said he sent an email to university staff on behalf of the school’s acting president, Jerry Prevo.
Prevo was a longtime board member who served as standing president and was the only Liberty officer to communicate with Fellwell about the university’s operations and business.
“If you feel uncomfortable calling or communicating with Mr. Fantasy, you can refuse to do so, and you are free to refer them to Jerry Prevo,” Kerry wrote.
Hill reached out to a university spokesman for comment, but received no immediate response.
