LG UltraFine 5K display ‘not currently available’ from Apple

Apple sold out on the $ 1,300 LG UltraFine 5K display, which appears as “Currently Unavailable” in the online Apple Store and is not available for pickup at Apple retail stores.

The LG UltraFine 5K display is not available for purchase in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Brazil, as indicated by 9to5Mac. Before the monitor was listed as unavailable, there were long shipping times after purchase, suggesting there could be possible supply issues.

If the supply issues are really to blame (and the supply issues have also caused long shipping times for other Apple products like the iMac), the unavailability of the display is likely to be temporary. However, Apple has not provided details on whether the monitor was temporarily sold out or if it is no longer sold.

Last May, the ultra-thin LG 5K display was also listed as unavailable on the Apple Store prior to an update in late July 2019, which is the model that could be purchased until recently. Apple continues to offer the Pro Display XDR, but that’s a much more expensive display option at $ 5,000. LG’s 4K UltraFine model is also available for purchase.

The Thunderbolt 3 LG UltraFine 5K display offers a 5120 x 2880 resolution with 14.7 million pixels and a wide P3 color gamut, plus built-in stereo speakers, a camera, a microphone, and an adjustable stand priced at $ 1,300.
