It follows the release of two reports investigating allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct by Miles during his time at Louisiana State University. Miles has denied the allegations.
Miles was head coach at LSU in 2005-16, winning the national championship in the 2007 season. He was hired by the Jayhawks on November 18, 2018 to lead his football team.
“I am deeply disappointed for our university, the fans and everyone involved in our football program,” Long said in a statement Monday. “This football team has a lot of young talents, and I have no doubt that we will identify the right person to lead this program. We will immediately start looking for a new head coach with an external pay firm to assist in this process. We need to win football games. Yes, and that’s exactly what we’re going to do. “

Taylor Porter’s investigation, which was at LSU’s request, concluded that Miles was “engaged in conduct that showed a weak verdict,” but did not support any legal violations.
On Friday, Miles’s attorney, Peter Ginsberg, said in a statement that “Taylor Porter’s report should put an end to unfounded, inaccurate media reports that coach Les Miles engaged in making the right touch to a student volunteer in the athletics department eight years ago.”

The attorney also struck down the Hurch Blackwell investigation, Jinsberg said, adding that investigators did not interview Miles or other key witnesses. Instead, he alleged that the law firm made a second estimate without providing any basis for Taylor Porter’s findings.
