Rudy Giuliani was brought in to lead a “.Elite strike forceLawyers to guide President Donald Trump’s legal challenges for the 2020 election, but his efforts have been “ineffective” and “embarrassing,” legal experts told NBC News, citing “inadvisable evidence” and “foreign claims.”
“It’s a shame,” said lawyer Glenn Kirschner. “They both deal with their confidence as they choose to embark on their play activities.”
Electoral lawyer Matthew Sanderson compared Giuliani to James Baker, who won the 2000 presidential election against George W. Bush. Led Bush’s legal efforts.
“This is like Bush vs. Gore, but replace James Baker with the editor of QN Subreddit,” he said. “It’s not a competent legal system. It has strategic errors, typographic errors – an error in every case that you can make.”
Sanderson added, “It’s the most passive litigation strategy I’ve ever seen.”
On Monday, the campaign filed an appeal for a federal judge’s ruling, challenging some of the mail-in votes in the campaign lawsuit in Pennsylvania.
In the appeal, the judge in the case, Matthew Brain, complained, “Miscalculated the remedy sought. The campaign did not seek to exempt 6.8 million Pennsylvanians,” the judge wrote in his condemnation decision – and Giulini admitted in a court hearing last week.
The appeal says the campaign only wanted to separate some ballots that it believed could be defective – and then noted that one of the solutions they were looking for was to “order the results of the 2020 presidential general election to be defective.” Which would allow Pennsylvania voters to elect the Pennsylvania General Assembly “- in other words, to dismiss 6.8 million Pennsylvania voters.
At one stage filing means the ballot is called “ballets”, and the day before the campaign filing referred to “President Donald J. Trump” instead of the president.
The earlier filing – which said the campaign was only part of Brain’s appeal but then added that it could appeal to other parts of the order – confused the other defendants in the case, who said it was inappropriate and did not understand exactly what it was. Was in search of a campaign.
This is not even the first filing since Trump named Giuliani his chief lawyer. Earlier in the same case in Pennsylvania, Giuliani was trying to add back to the arguments left by his predecessor, probably because he did not have evidence to substantiate his claims. “The lawyers thought they were lost,” Sanderson said.
Also on Monday, the campaign lost another lawsuit in Pennsylvania state court – the latest in a string of dozens of court damages in six swing states after the election, most of which were initiated by Giulia’s predecessor.
“I don’t think any team of lawyers can save this case. The election claim is not designed to overturn tens of thousands of votes. It just doesn’t happen. But despite that warning, the strategy hasn’t worked well,” Sanderson said.
He noted that Giuliani seemed to be struggling with some legal conditions during his court appearance last week, and that his high-profile claims about a nationwide voter fraud scheme could not help his credibility.
Marina Perez, director of the Brennan Center’s voting rights and election program, said Giuliani’s efforts were not intended to overcome the court’s challenges – they were designed to provoke attacks on Trump’s democratic process.
“I think it’s a strategy to try to blow the whistle on its base by attacking minority voters in a democracy,” he said. “How do we resolve our political differences peacefully, and make the process of doubting the outcome of the election cheaper, in which it is not the winner.”
“This is a detrimental and problematic attempt to print our democratic processes,” Perez said. “The legal campaign is full of unsatisfactory allegations, insufficient evidence and foreign claims.”
Some of those claims have apparently gone too far for the president – he fired lawyer Sidney Powell from his team over the weekend after he suggested Republicans had paid to fix the election in Georgia. In the same place, in the elections to be held in January, the U.S. The Senate is dominated by two seats that determine control.
Giuliani made some of Powell’s similar claims, but never accused any Republican of misconduct.

A source familiar with Trump’s thinking told NBC News on Monday that he was unhappy with the excellent performance of President Powell and Giulini at a news conference at the Republican National Committee headquarters last week, where both share baseless conspiracy theories about the election. Perez called Giuliani’s various conspiracy allegations “the legal equivalent of jumping sharks.”
