Now there’s a name that I haven’t heard in a long time
Turtle Rock Studios is a giant, emphatic, oh-for-one with big releases after venturing out on his own again. The asymmetric multiplayer Evolve he was ordered in theory, but he never really found a considerable and permanent audience to stay alive. The team responsible for Left 4 Dead he is going back to his roots hoping to capture some of that cooperative zombie killing magic.
This is not a new story, but you would be forgiven if you forgot the original. In March 2019, Turtle Rock announced Back 4 Blood – Another cooperative zombie shooting game. It was painfully light on the details. Warner Bros. is publishing it. There is a campaign and PvP. It’s on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, but the next generation seems increasingly likely right now. It’s not a battle royale (because apparently it was still fun to clarify that each game wasn’t a battle royale in early 2019). Turtle Rock didn’t even show us screenshots or a trailer!
On Saturday, Turtle Rock tweeted this concept art that appears to be the first public release. Back 4 Blood image of any type:
Reaching this 4th of July has been difficult for all of us, so we wanted to give you a glimpse and a little hope. pic.twitter.com/buGOBayz5N

It is a photo of a fortified camp called “Esperanza”. Perhaps it is one of the few places so well protected that zombies cannot infiltrate and life can resume with a sense of normalcy. Maybe it’s an ironic name, like calling a fat guy “skinny.”
Whatever the case, Back 4 Blood It hasn’t been quietly canceled even though Turtle Rock neglected a single marketing beat for 15 months. The developer’s Twitter account regularly posts job openings and responds to fans about Back 4 Blood. It is working, slowly but surely. Stable as she goes.
