NBA players who are part of the 22-team throughput team in Orlando are more than a month away from their families. The Phoenix Suns did something to ease the divorce.
The Suns surprised the team with virtual first name introductions from their family members.
LeBron James, who talked about how difficult it is for him to be away from his wife Savannah and their three children, was impressed by that idea.
“That was great !!!!!!!!” James tweeted. “S / O the Suns for that. Damn, I miss my family! #JamesGang“
Players will not be able to see their families until the first round of the playoffs, which means they will be away from them for almost two months.
James said it’s the longest stretch he’s ever walked without seeing them.
“It’s an enormous sacrifice we all make,” James said after the L10’s 116-108 win over the Utah Jazz on August 3rd. “I miss the hell out of my family. My wife, my children, my mother.”
James, who normally turns off his phone during the playoffs and disconnects from social media, says this is a luxury he will not have this time.
“I have to keep checking with my family every day,” he said.
The Lakers (52-18) sounds the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference for the first time since 2010.
The Suns, who are the only team to go into the bubble with an undefeated 7-0 record, are in a tight race for the eighth seed with the Memphis Grizzlies, Portland Trail Blazers and San Antonio Spurs.
