After Monday night’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers, Michael Porter Jr. took to Instagram with two photos, one of himself being guarded by LeBron James and another showing the two embracing after the game. The title: “Learn and Stay Better!”
In response, James commented on the photo “Every day do JUST THAT !! Do not make for nothing less than greatness for yourself.”
Yesterday’s game was the first time Porter has ever played against James. In the three previous meetings against the Lakers this season, Porter did not play in two of them and James did not play in the other. Porter was a perfect 6-6 off the field yesterday for 15 points and grabbed four rebounds en route, another impressive performance for the rookie who has taken the NBA by storm into the bubble. As a starter for the Nuggets, while Will Barton and Gary Harris remain sidelined, he averages 23.8 points per game and 9.1 rebounds, shooting 46.3% of three.
For Porter, who grew up in the era of King James, this must have been a surreal moment that was made even more special by the words of support from one of the greatest who have ever played the game.
If what we’ve seen so far is any indication, this’s just the beginning of Michael Porter Jr.’s greatness. for the Nuggets.
