LeBron and NBA players show their support for ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski – Deadline

Several NBA players are showing their support for Adrian Wojnarowski, the NBA’s top ESPN reporter, who got into trouble after emailing an offbeat phrase that excited Senator Josh Hawley. Wojnarowski reported that he has been suspended, but ESPN has not confirmed that.

Wojnarowski was responding to Hawley’s press release announcing that the Republican junior senator from Missouri had sent a letter complaining to NBA Commissioner Adam Silver about the social justice statements NBA players can use during games and criticizing the NBA’s welcoming relationship with China.

Wojnarowski replied: “F * ck you”.

He also issued an apology saying he was “disrespectful” and that he had “made a regrettable mistake.”

NBA players were quick to defend their beloved insider information, including players Lebron James, Lou Williams and Bam Adebayo. They tweeted the hashtag “#FreeWoj” after news of its suspension on Saturday in support of the Wojnarowski switch.

NBA analyst Charles Barkley on the league’s social justice efforts: “We are turning into a circus.”
