The Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition (which appears to be the Galaxy S20 Lite in everything but the name) is rumored to launch soon, and surprisingly it looks like it could beat the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 (which will surely cost more) in at least two ways. .
The first of these is the refresh rate, as reports suggest the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition will have a refresh rate of 120Hz, while the Galaxy Note 20 will stick with a 60Hz refresh rate.
It may seem unlikely that the cheapest phone has a higher refresh rate, but we now have an explanation for that, as Ross Young (founder of DisplaySearch and a major source of smartphone screen leaks) has said that the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition will have a rigid OLED display, while the Galaxy Note 20 will use a flexible OLED display.
The S20 FE will use a rigid OLED vs. a flexible OLED in the S20 and Note 20. Therefore, it will be thicker and heavier, but can significantly reduce cost. July 23, 2020
The stiff OLED, according to Young, is thicker and heavier (meaning the Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition could also be a bit thicker and heavier), but it’s also cheaper. Also, the flexible OLED tends to have a higher resolution, but the leaks suggest that the standard Samsung Galaxy Note 20 might only have a 1080 x 2400 display anyway, so there might not be much difference.
Bigger battery too
Elsewhere, GalaxyClub claims to have learned from a “trusted source” that the 5G version of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition will have a battery with a nominal capacity of 4,370 mAh, which will likely translate to an advertised capacity of 4,500 mAh.
That’s bigger than the rumored 4,300 mAh battery in the Samsung Galaxy Note 20, and rumored to be the same size as the battery in the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, but with a probably smaller screen and lower resolution in the S20 Fan Edition, The battery could last longer here.
And although this source only talks about the 5G model of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition, it is likely that the 4G has the same battery capacity.
This source also claims that the Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition will have a 12MP main camera, 12MP wide angle and 8MP telephoto lens, and that it will come in shades of red, white, green and orange.
None of this is confirmed yet, of course, but if these rumors are correct, then the Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition could end up being much more exciting than the Samsung Galaxy Note 20. However, you may have to wait longer, while With the Note 20 expected to arrive on August 5, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition will likely not arrive until later in the year, possibly in October.
