NEW YORK – The Yankees are taking it very slow with star right fielder Aaron Judge.
Mangaer Aaron Boone said he was “hopeful” that Judge, battling a stiff neck, could play in the intra-squad game planned for Tuesday at Yankee Stadium.
“But we’ll see,” Boone said Sunday.
The judge did not play Sunday due to the injury. It was also a late scratch from Saturday’s lineup.
Boone said the belief that that judge slept badly in his neck on Saturday. He reported feeling pain when he got up that morning.
“I don’t think it’s going to be something that keeps him depressed too long,” Boone said, “but most of us have had that type of neck where you make a mistake and make hitting difficult.” We will be smart about it. We will not push it. We will see how it goes (on Monday) and we will go from there ”.
The Yankees have a light workout scheduled for Monday. They will host batting practice in the Bronx.
The judge passed the closure of the coronavirus recovering from a broken right rib. He was diagnosed with the injury on March 6. The Yankees believe he suffered it in September by diving for a ball and solved everything during the offseason.
He looked healthy during the spring training restart, when he’s been out on the field. He played in in-school games last week after missing all the games during spring training in Tampa.
