Latest Galaxy Watch 3 leak lists full specs along with press renders

Samsung confirmed in a Galaxy Unpacked teaser video earlier today that it would unveil an entirely new smartwatch, which is understood to be the Galaxy Watch 3, plus several other products at the big online event next week.

Thanks to Roland Quandt and WinFuture, now there is little to announce because the entire specification sheet and several renders of the press have been leaked.

Two screen sizes, both with Super AMOLED technology

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 represents both a direct successor to the Galaxy Watch 2018 and a spiritual successor to the Galaxy Watch Active 2. Indeed, it fuses what made these two wearables popular.Samsung has plans to launch the smartwatch in two sizes, a 41mm model and a 45mm model, which are identical in every way, aside from a few key details that are definitely worth keeping in mind.

The smaller version features a 1.2-inch Super AMOLED screen along with a 360 x 360p resolution and a 247mAh battery. The larger model, on the other hand, makes do with a 1.4-inch Super AMOLED screen with the same resolution and a larger 340mAh battery capacity.

For added protection, Samsung has added the recently announced Corning Gorilla Glass DX to the Galaxy Watch 3. That is accompanied by a rotating bezel, which has become a fan favorite over the years.

The rotating bezel, for those of you who don’t know, allows you to better control your next-generation smartwatch. Making that possible is the latest version of Samsung’s specially adapted Tizen operating system.

An older Exynos processor and optional 4G LTE support

Despite using the internal Exynos 9110 in the first Galaxy Watch, which launched two years ago, the South Korean company has decided to reuse the chipset again for both versions of the next-generation Galaxy Watch 3.

A massive increase in performance over the original is therefore different but some differences should be noticeable. After all, Samsung has outfitted the new smartwatch with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage instead of the 768MB and 4GB configuration that the original offers.

But the presence of 1 GB of RAM is interesting because the Galaxy Watch Active and the Galaxy Watch Active 2 have 1.5 GB of RAM.

As expected, Samsung is preparing two connectivity options. Buyers will be able to go for the cheaper version only with Bluetooth or buy a more expensive version with 4G LTE support. A 5G version is not in process.

All smartwatch models include an IP68 rating, meaning it supports depths of up to 50 meters. That makes it perfect for swimming and other outdoor activities.

Samsung will claim up to 56 hours of use on a single charge when it announces the Galaxy Watch 3. It works with Qi wireless chargers and reverse wireless charging technology on top of compatible smartphones.

A whopping 39 modes of activity, GPS tracking, and ECG support

Rounding out the package is an extensive list of sport modes. In fact, Samsung has prepared support for 39 different physical activities. These are complemented by a heart rate monitor, built-in pedometer and GPS tracking.

As part of a focus on health, the ECG functionality that Samsung announced on the Galaxy Watch Active 2 last year is making a comeback. It has also included sleep monitoring and stress level detection.
