Latest CDC advice on face masks for Covied-19 protection


UNITED STATES – Although it has been almost seven months since the first Covid-19 case was reported in the United States, there is still confusion about which protective face masks best prevent the virus from spreading.

New guidance suggests that certain face coverage may be less protective than removing any mask.

Dramatic video speed of researchers from the University of Australia of New South Australia shows the difference that two layers of cloth make on a mask when someone snows.

A separate Duke University study looked at 14 types of masks. The N-95 performed best.

A surgical mask worked well, but bandanas were not effective. Some co-named neck guests may not offer protection, according to the researchers.

The CDC urges people to avoid unidirectional masks such as ventilators, as unfiltered droplets could exhale, allowing the wearer to transmit Covid-19. Other masks that do not fit well may eventually be banned as well.
