Hundreds of people in a neighborhood in Northern Virginia were stranded on Wednesday after droughts caused flash floods, causing a large sinkhole.
The damage was reported at 4:30 a.m. in the 300-block Mosby Court in Manassas Park, located about 30 miles west of Washington, DC.
“Because of the stormy rains that swept through the city this morning, Moseby Court has collapsed and collapsed,” the City of Manassas Police Department posted on Facebook.

Officials told FOX5 that an officer discovered a downed tree and damage to the highway upon arrival at the scene.
Emergency crews were able to tow several cars out of the crash area.
Authorities said one car was washed in the creek and another remained trapped.
Capt. Frank Winston of the City of Manassas Park Police Department told FOX5 that about 400 residents were trapped in their homes without access to roads from the neighborhood.
All residents have water and electricity, Winston said.

A path is removed in the back of the neighborhood to allow access on foot in case of an emergency.
No injuries were reported. Road crews have been called to the scene, but it is unclear when repairs will be done and when access to the homes will be restored.

The storms dumped between two to four inches of rain in about an hour over the area, prompting flash flood warnings.
Several rapids with rapid water were carried out on US 29 after commuters were trapped in cars due to fast-rising water at Youngs Branch, WTOP reported.

Forecasters warn that dangerous flooding is possible across the Mid-Atlantic throughout the day.
The National Weather Service’s (NWS) Weather Prediction Center (WPC) said 18 million people are at moderate risk of seeing excessive rain on Wednesday.
“Storms will have very heavy rainfall rates and are expected to move slowly – almost silently at times,” the WPC tweeted.
