The LAPD kicks back against mayor Eric Garcettithreatens to kill power at homes defending COVID-19 orders … because cops no longer want meat with citizens.
Here’s the deal … Garcetti authorized the city to turn off water and electricity to residents who have major stake in violating health orders, and he put LAPD in charge of making these requests with the Department of Water and Power.

So, if cops respond to a house and find a big party coming down – like the one last week in Los Angeles that ended in a fatal shooting – officers can make the call to kill utilities there within 48 hours.
LAPD sources tell TMZ … no officer wants to rule out power during a stay, in part because many people are already pissed on cops. We are told that they would rather concentrate on reducing real crime, and not exposing it to need for home.
Our sources say if the decision is left to the discretion of officers … very few will follow up with Garcetti’s threat.

We are told, politicians are raising their concerns about homeowners relying on electricity to power a breathing apparatus or food that is spoiled in refrigerators. One of those situations would create more tension in communities they police.
Bottom line … we are told that politicians absolutely sue a homeowner for throwing a party out of control, but reducing someone’s power is not a burden they want to bear.
