Created for the race track
Inspired by racing prototypes, the Essenza SCV12 is a direct descendant of cars like the Miura Jota and Diablo GTR, according to Automobili Lamborghini.
The track-only hypercar uses racing engineering, making it an impressive vehicle beast – the V12 is over 830 horsepower (619 kilowatts), and benefits from a significant increase in power from a ram effect when reaches high speeds.
“Lamborghini is a brand that constantly looks to the future and looks for new challenges, but we never forget our roots and who we are: Essenza SCV12 is the perfect combination of our unconventional spirit as a manufacturer of super sports cars and our true passion for the sport of engine, “Stefano Domenicali explained in the Essenza SCV12 press release.
‘The ultimate expression of the V12’
The Essenza SCV12 uses a new Xtrac six-speed sequential gearbox, placed inside the chassis. The car features an impressive power / weight ratio of 1.66 hp per kilogram thanks to new generation carbon fiber monocoque chassis technology which means the car does not need to be equipped with an internal roll cage.
Impressively, despite the absence of a roll cage, the Essenza SCV12 is the first GT car fully developed in accordance with the safety rules of the FIA prototype. This can only mean that the carbon fiber chassis is so strong that it makes up for the lack of the roll cage.
“Essenza SCV12 is the highest expression of the naturally aspirated V12 engine, the symbol of our brand since 1963”, explains Maurizio Reggiani, technical director of Automobili Lamborghini. “It is a project where we combine the pursuit of engineering perfection with refined aerodynamics, futuristic design, and innovative solutions like the carbon monocoque without an internal roll cage.”
The Essenza SCV12’s aerodynamics take advantage of Lamborghini Squadra Corse’s GT racing experience to ensure higher downforce levels than a GT3 car, valued at 2,645 pounds (1,200 kg) to 155 mph (250 km / h).
The limited edition Lamborghini hypercar will only have 40 units developed by Lamborghini Squadra Corse and designed by Lamborghini Centro Stile.
