Lamar Miller’s path back to the NFL has a new stop: Foxborough.
The back is expected to sign with the New England Patriots after Monday’s visit, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per Miller’s agent Drew Rosenhaus.
Miller’s NFL career came to a standstill when he suffered an ACL tear in Houston’s third game in 2019, when his season ended. The injury came at a terrible time – Miller’s contract year – and spelled an end to his stint in Houston after four years.
Flying under the radar after falling out of public consciousness due to the injury, Miller has resurfaced with a crime that began to fill up with recovery projects. Quarterback Cam Newton signed with New England earlier this summer and will likely be the one to hand it over to Miller, who was seen as a legitimate forward back for his knee injury.
With Sony Michel still on the PUP list, Miller finds himself in a situation where he could see early reps. If Miller could once again find what once suited him after two seasons of 1,000-yards and a career-high of 5,864 rushing yards and 32 touchdowns, New England himself might have found a return to what should be a bargain.
