Lakers vs. Mavericks Final Score: Dion Waiters had a glorious debut

For the first time in months, we have a new Lakers basketball game to break down, even if it was just a loss of scrimmage ultimately for the Dallas Mavericks. And one of the biggest takeaways? The Dion Waiters era in Los Angeles will be a lot of fun.

In a special episode of “Can U Dig It?” – a Silver Screen and Roll podcast – Normal host Jacob Rude joined guest Harrison Faigen to talk about what caught their attention the most in the game, and it was difficult to choose anything but Waiters’ debut. From his first shot, it was everything they imagined it would be and more, and it looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun in purple and gold. It also gives them a potentially more valuable game creator than Rajon Rondo for a few reasons, including, somewhat ironically, better ball movement, which Harrison and Jacob get into.

Harrison and Jacob also discussed headlines that don’t miss a beat with Kentavious Caldwell-Pope taking the place of Avery Bradley, as well as Talen Horton-Tucker, Quinn Cook and JR Smith getting some extended looks from Frank Vogel, in addition to as Kyle Kuzma. Orlando’s own mixed debut.

Finally, they concluded the program by strongly recommending that everyone go see LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Frank Vogel’s comments on social justice, social racism and the recognition of our own privilege. It was a powerful thing, and all Lakers fans should look at it.
