Lakers’ Anthony Davis peeked into his eyes during the scrimmage against Magic, will not return

NBA basketball is back, which means injury problems are back, too. During Saturday’s dispute against the Orlando Magic, the Los Angeles Lakers had their first injury since the action began. Lakers big star Anthony Davis left the exhibition in the second quarter after receiving a puncture in the eye and did not return. Davis returned to the Los Angeles locker room after suffering the injury and was subsequently discarded for the remainder of the game. Davis finished the contest with nine points and 10 rebounds in nine minutes of action.

The Lakers were probably just being cautious with their star striker given the fact that Saturday’s competition was just a dispute, and they obviously want him to be in top form for his eight “seed” games and, of course, for the postseason. If it was a postseason game, Davis may have been back in action. Given that logic, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Davis resist the Lakers’ final scrimmage against the Washington Wizards on Monday afternoon. The Lakers will reopen the season against the Clippers on Thursday night.

Addressing Orlando, Davis said the game pause really benefited him as he was able to rest and recover from other persistent injury problems.

[The time away] It gave me an opportunity to let my body recover, “Davis said earlier this month.” Take a break in the middle of the season and let everything heal, I like it again as it was at the beginning of the year. It’s been good for me to let some of the lingering injuries I had around the time the NBA stopped to allow those to recover and heal and return to the best version of myself. I feel 100 percent healthy. Well, I don’t feel, I am. I’m ready to go.”

The fact that Davis is 100 percent seated is great news for the Lakers as they will need him to be completely healthy and at his best if they hope to leave Orlando with an NBA title. Therefore, they obviously expect Davis’ eye injury to be minor and to return to game action in no time.
