The 49 Caesars have been hit particularly hard by injuries this season, but perhaps the silver lining will get Josh Rosen.
San Francisco this week signed the Booker’s Practice Squad to pick up the 2018 overall pick of the 2018 to serve as a backup for CJ Beathard. At this point, it is unlikely that Jimmy Garoppolo will return from the long run of his ankle in 2020. Nick Mullens, who has started six games, is out with an elbow injury.
Head coach Kyle Shanah said in an interview on KNBR on Wednesday that it is exciting for 49 people to get a player willing to leave the team on the way to the postseason which is definitely not the case.
“And also to find out that we got a guy here who got the draft in the first round, who got a little bit of capacity from his hand, it was very exciting,” Shanah was told by Dalton Johnson of NBCSportsBearea.com. “We were going to take someone, and we needed that body. And it was great to get someone with that ability. “
Rose started 13 games as a joke for the Cardinals in 2018, setting a 3-10 record as a starter before the team replaced him with Killer Murray. He then went 0-3 as a starter for Miami last year, with a draft of the Dolphins Spring in Tua Tugaviloa.
Overall, Rose completed 54.8 percent of his pass at 2,845 yards with his 128 touchdowns and 19 interceptions. But it does offer him a two-week audition for a team that may still have questions about his long-term quarterback.
“It simply came to our notice then [in] One person. To be the guy who was just picked in the first round [two years ago]”It’s a bonus,” Shanah said. “So, we’re excited to have someone with the ability to come here that we’re going to see.”
Rosen will be at least in the familiar range if he is to play, as he will face the Cardinals in Arizona at 49 weeks 16.
