Kyle Busch was disqualified from an apparent NASCAR Xfinity Series victory on Saturday after his Joe Gibbs Racing No. 54 Toyota failed the post-race inspection at Texas Motor Speedway.

Busch’s car was found to be out of compliance with the height requirements, according to the NASCAR Rule Book. That decision elevated Austin Cindric, who was the second driver to carry the checkered flag, to his third Xfinity Series victory of the year at My Bariatric Solutions 300. He also sent Busch No. 54 to last place on the field of 37 cars.

The last driver to be disqualified from an Xfinity Series victory was Denny Hamlin, whose No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota was also penalized for missing height requirements last August at Darlington Raceway. That propelled runner-up Cole Custer to victory.

NASCAR competition officials introduced a stricter deterrence system in the rulebook before the 2019 season, which included disqualifications for significant rule violations.
