Kushner shakes up Trump campaign team

Glassner, one of Trump’s oldest campaign aides, is being switched to a different role in which he will help oversee the campaign’s various legal battles. Trump campaign spokesman Tim Murtaugh said the decision “was not a reaction to Tulsa.”

Michael Glassner is moving into the long-term role of navigating the many legal courses we face, including lawsuits against the mainstream media, some of which will likely extend beyond the end of the campaign. He is one of the founding members of Team Trump and his dedication to the President’s success is unmatched, “added Murtaugh.

But two people said the confusion was a direct result of the Oklahoma rally and argued that Glassner was being positioned, perhaps unfairly, as the man responsible for the mess. While Glassner has been active in organizing logistics for Trump’s protests, few internally pointed him out for failing to fill the arena.

The move comes at a treacherous moment for the president, with polls showing him following Joe Biden by substantial margins. Kushner has been effectively monitoring the campaign from the White House, but with four months to go before the election, it is expected to be even more practical.

DeWit, a former Arizona state treasurer, is a Trump loyalist who played a key role in the president’s 2016 victory. Later, Trump nominated him to serve as director of operations at NASA, a position DeWit left to earlier this year.

DeWit had been in talks with Kushner for several weeks. In her new role, she will oversee everything from budgeting to event and demonstration planning.

Trump, who has been mostly locked up in the White House amid the coronavirus pandemic, has been eager to follow the trail. But Tulsa’s failure has hampered his plans. The campaign has been considering holding smaller events, but has yet to schedule any.
