It is rare that Georges St-Pierre has been a loser during his career. But if he decides to return, that is exactly the role he will play in battling reigning UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Earlier this week, UFC President Dana White said he would consider a showdown between Nurmagomedov and St-Pierre if that’s what the undefeated Russian really wanted for the final fight of his career.
While Nurmagomedov’s next fight with Justin Gaethje is already reserved for October 24, he has always stated that it would be a dream to finally face St-Pierre before his career ends. They even publicly pressured him into combat, only to be shot down by White.

Obviously Nurmagomedov and St-Pierre are still not close to a fight. But for the first time, it seems the UFC might be considering the possibility.
As dominant as St-Pierre was during his UFC career, Nurmagomedov has surpassed him by maintaining an undefeated resume with just one round lost throughout his tenure with promotion.
