Kevin Harvick went Sunday after a weekend doubleheader sweep at Michigan International Speedway, defeated a closing Denny Hamlin and rode on a dominant Stewart-Haas Racing No. 4 Ford after his second win of the NASCAR Cup Series in a two-day span.

Harvick led 90 of 156 laps in Sunday’s Consumers Energy 400, a day after he led 92 of 161 in a Saturday triumph on the 2-mile Michigan track. His sixth win of the season was his fifth at Michigan and the 55th of his career in the Cup Series, tying him up with Rusty Wallace on the series’ winning list.

Hamlin placed second in No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota, just 0.093 seconds – about an auto-length – behind the checkered flag. Martin Truex Jr. scored for the second straight race third place with Kyle Busch fourth and Joey Logano fifth.

The victory sealed the Michigan Heritage Trophy for Ford as well. The award is given to the top-performing motorist in the two annual Cup Series races at MIS.

A mid-race crash eliminated Team Penske teammates Brad Keselowski and Ryan Blaney from controversy. Keselowski was on the low side in her Lap 96 game for the lead when his no. 2 Ford broke loose, and the no. 12 Blaney Mustang collected. Both cars crossed the Turn 2 retaining wall, ending the day early for both. Blaney finished 38th with Keselowski last in the field of 39 cars.
