Kenosha shot victim, 26, remembered by fellow skateboarders as ‘peaceful person’


Anthony Huber enjoyed skateboarding, which a group of his friends met at a skateboard park in Kenosha, Wis., On Wednesday night to remember him.

“Get out there and ride as hard as you can,” Huber’s girlfriend, Hannah Gittings, wrote on a crowdfunding site for Huber, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Reports circulating across the park pay homage to Huber, one of the two Wisconsin residents killed Tuesday when a shooter in Kenosha opened fire on the night of unrest following Jacob Blake’s injury on Sunday by police.

“#SkateForHuber,” read a message, “You’re a hero Huber,” read another, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

Huber, of Silver Lake, Wis., Also had a stepdaughter, and was a “peaceful person” who friends said stopped the teenage gunman who was arrested in Illinois on Wednesday.

“He did not go in search of defeating people,” an unknown friend told Milwaukee’s WDJT TV. ‘He’s more of a defender. And he put his life on the line for others. That’s what he did. ”

As of Wednesday night, the crowdfunding site had raised more than $ 51,000 for the Huber family.

Also Tuesday night, Joseph “Jojo” Rosenbaum, 36, of Kenosha, was killed. A third victim, an unknown 26-year-old from West Allis, was injured and is expected to recover, the Sun-Times reported.

Rosenbaum left behind a 2-year-old daughter and was originally from Waco, Texas, the Sun-Times reported.
