Kelly Clarkson appeared on “America’s Got Talent” for Simon Cowell last night, when he recovered from a serious back injury at home, and she was sitting right at the judges’ table.
The singer and “Voice” coach revealed how she prepared herself for her guest, judging performances, and the pressure she felt to fill Simon’s shoes.

“Okay, yall, so Kelly Clarkson here, takes over for Simon Cowell,” she said in a Twitter video for the performance. “I just worked on my lines, some of Simon’s best lines, because I have a reputation to keep.”
She then tried some classic Simon lines in a British accent, including: “I do not like it … I like it,” and “What the hell was that?”
Eventually, however, she decided to bring her own spin to the right table.
“I have the worst British accent in the whole universe, so I’ll just bring Land of the Night to ‘EIGHT’!” sei se.
Cowell had a sweet reaction to Clarkson’s video, writing to the singer Twitter, “Thank you @kellyclarkson. Miss you all. What a great show. ”
It really was a circus moment for Clarkson, who made her name after auditioning for “American Idol” for Cowell in 2002.
The singer murdered her as an “AGT” guest judge and after the show she admitted that she could get used to appearing on the reality competition series.

Cowell broke his back in a serious bicycle accident on Saturday. He underwent a six-hour operation, during which multiple fusions and a metal stick were placed in his back, a rep told TODAY over the weekend.
He has now recovered from surgery, and Clarkson is filling in for him at this week’s live shows.
