Keanu Koht’s Engagement Takes LSU Recruitment Class to Top 5 in Rankings | LSU

Keanu Koht made a commitment to LSU on Saturday afternoon, adding another highly-respected perspective to the growing 2021 class of Tigers. His promise continued a wave of recent verbal engagements and pushed LSU into the top 5 of the national rankings.

Despite increased recruitment restrictions during the new coronavirus pandemic, LSU has received a large number of commitments in recent months. He now has 15 players in his 2021 class, leaving LSU with 10 open seats.

Near the beginning of the week, the LSU class ranked 9th in the country. Three engagements later, LSU has the N ° 5 class in the nation, according to 247Sports, making it the top-ranked group without a five-star recruit.

Kohl, a four-star defensive end from Vero Beach, Florida, announced his decision on social media. He chose LSU over the Auburn, Florida and Oregon offers.

A Zoom call with LSU receiver coach Mickey Joseph over a month ago really had it all for Zachary High’s Chris Hilton Jr.

“First I would like to thank God for all that has guided me to anticipate and work; I thank the people who have blessed me for being part of my life and journey to this point,” Koht wrote. “They are a fundamental factor for me to become the young man I am today. Until now, my path has made me wiser, humble, demanding and hard-working.

“I give God all the glory for what I have accomplished and will continue to accomplish. I am blessed and honored to announce that I am committed to Louisiana State University.”

Koht is the 240th player in the country, according to the composite ranking of 247Sports. His promise gave LSU four defensive ends in the 2021 class.

Koht also continued a trend within this LSU recruitment class. Coming from Vero Beach, Florida, he gave the Tigers another out-of-state recruit. Only three of the 15 engagements are from Louisiana.

College football is still possible after the coronavirus wave, but this is what experts say should happen.

With about a month until college football leaders must decide the fate of the 2020 season, cases of the new coronavirus have skyrocketed across the country and emerged in athletic departments, casting doubt on the feasibility of practicing the sport this fall.
