Kanye West redesigns the YEEZY Gap Chicago store

“Do you like things?” Kanye West and Gap presume that YEEZY fans do. When he announced his totally unexpected partnership with the chain’s retailer, it wasn’t really clear when the 10-year experience would begin. However, it seems that the duo can start immediately.

A mysterious shroud wraps around the Gap store on the corner of Michigan and Ohio in Chicago, apparently the exact store that West himself used to shop at. One side facing the street features the distinctive asymmetric YEEZY Gap logo (as joint effort is known), while a larger one at the end of a slope is stamped with text directly from a note West wrote by hand. , doodles and all. Below is a transcript of the text, complete with line breaks.

Thank God
Hi girl, it’s me
This is [the] Gap store
Used to buy when
I would drive my Nissan
from the south side
so blessed
I thank God and I am
so humble before him
opportunity to serve
I put my heart in it
color palette and each
detail I love Tron the original
You like things
I don’t know what to do with
my hands
YEEZY love

The note indicates that West himself redesigned the store down to the color palette. If it’s something like your recent Jesus is king Merch Drop, it’s fair to assume there will be an air of absolute minimalism and robust, earth-toned motifs, though West’s surprising reference to Disney Tron I would suggest otherwise.

The collection’s launch date or store opening has not been confirmed, but a specific timeline is expected to emerge very soon.

Despite concerns about the rumored crushing of the Telfar’s Gap collaboration in favor of YEEZY Gap, the partnership with West has been almost universally welcomed by shareholders, which caused Gap’s share prices to skyrocket.
