Kanye West has returned to the headlines recently, either because of his 10-year contract with Gap (Yeezy Gap is coming next year) or for his latest surprise single “Wash Us In the Blood” with Travis Scott.
But on Saturday night, July 4, West shared his most important news to date: running for president in 2020.
“We must now deliver on America’s promise by trusting God, unifying our vision, and building our future. I am running for President of the United States,” West wrote around 9 pm ET. He completed the tweet with an American flag emoji and the hashtag # 2020VISION.
Rumors that West ran for president have circulated before: Over the past year, he has leaned much more toward politics, having a handful of meetings with Donald Trump. This tweet apparently confirms that he actually agrees.
Billboard He has contacted his team for comment.
