Kanye West is back with new music. He just shared a song called “Wash Us in the Blood,” which comes with a picture of video artist (and former West contributor) Arthur Jafa. The song is mixed by Dr. Dre and features Travis Scott. The “Wash Us in the Blood” video opens with protest images. The clip also has footage from the Saint Pablo West tour and rehearsals for the Sunday service. Look at the image below.
“Wash Us in the Blood” marks Kanye West’s comeback after last year’s gospel album Jesus is king and, shortly after, the LP for the Sunday Service Choir Jesus is born. The new track, set to appear on an album currently titled God’s countrywas mentioned in Kanye’s April 2020 interview with GQWill Welch. The writer described all the music he heard on the album as “worship songs.”
When asked about the content of the album, West said: “I was thinking about not rapping again, because I raped for the devil so long that I didn’t even know how to rap for god. Then one of my pastors said to me, ‘My son just said he would like a rap album about Jesus by Kanye West.’ He didn’t say, ‘Kanye West, you should do this,’ or ‘You need to do this.’ He just told me something a boy said. And that one thing made a difference. “
Last week, West announced a collaboration with Gap called Yeezy Gap. Under the terms of the 10-year deal, West will fulfill its ambition to create an affordable clothing line, designing “modern, high-end basics for affordable men, women and kids.” He also recently teased an animated CGI series based on his 2018 collaboration with Kid Cudi, Children see ghosts, configured to be led by Takashi Murakami.
