Kanye holds a campaign event

(Newser)
– No stranger to filling sands, Kanye West heads to a smaller place on Sunday for something new for him: a campaign event. Yeezy announced that the first meeting of his fledgling quest to win the Oval Office in November will take place at 5pm in North Charleston, SC, reports Politico. Attendees must register, cover their faces, observe social distancing, and sign a coronavirus exemption. West tweeted Saturday, urging people to “sign up to put me on the ballot in South Carolina,” although ABC News reports that the deadline for submission of independent candidates for the state was July 15. “It is registered, I think, in two states.” says a source. “It is such a small organization that it doesn’t even have a logo.” Five states have filing deadlines on August 3, and ABC notes that if West doesn’t get all five ballots, he doesn’t have a chance, adding, “But reality has not stopped West in the past.” (Read more Kanye West stories.)
